And what we have got here? Watching the picture above, you might be thinking what is this thing? A laptop or a laptop-console combination? Don't worry, this is a new Gaming laptop recently launched by MSI for the Gamers. Yeah, definitely this laptop looks very different from the other machines in the market. Yes, this is the latest innovation brought by MSI, the laptop with Mechanical switches. The keyboard is assembled by Cherry MX Brown Switches, which should make this machine a more satisfying typing tool than most of the rival right now.
It looks like MSI has taken some inspiration from the desktops. Firstly, the mechanical swithces with red led backlit and as you can see the trackpad is also moved to the right side and also the screen size is huge, nearly 18.4", wow. The keyboards are made by the peripheral experts SteelSeries and the mechanical switches are fast, tactile and quiter.
The design is just eye catching. The lid has MSI's Dragon gaming logo and sleek red lines, and the wide area above the keyboard is decorated with a subtle MSI Dragon gaming logo amid the brushed metal. The build quality is strong enough to keep this huge laptop in one piece. It weight's 4.5kg and it's 49mm thick. It's half a kilo heavier than the Alienware 17.
The 18.4" matte screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1080. The brightmess is very good and the black levels are deeper as compared to other gaming laptops and also the colours are accurate. Talking about the graphics, it is loaded with dual Nvidia GTX 980M. Each of these have 1536 stream processor clocked to 1038MHz. Each GTX 980M has 8GB of memory concluding in dedicated 16GB of memory.
This beast comes with Intel Core i7-4980HQ cpu with four cores, 2.8GHz clock and a mighty 4GHz Turbo Boost speed. And its combined with 32GB of RAM. You can upgrade upto 1024GB of SSDs and 1TB HDD is included (7200rpm). Its equipped with a 8-Cell Litium Ion Battery. Its got 5 USB 3.0 ports. Two mini display port and a FHD type webcam (1080p). Windows 8.1 is the OS we get in this model.
The MSI GT80 2QE Titan SLI is big, heavy and expensive gaming laptop. Although MSI has introduced a new kind of laptop with a serious new features and yes we appreciate that.
